A short History of Washu.co.uk
Well, it seemed about time for a bit of reflection on how washu.co.uk came to be here and in its current state. So, here it is. The complete history from as far back as is in any way relevant. And probably in ways that aren't, too. Precise dates may be inaccurate due to high degree of cannabis smoking during student years.
1996-
The year that whilst at college, I set up an old Geocities site. (Back in the days of their www.geocities.com/xxx/xxx/xxx/ directory structure. Painful memories indeed.) A Manga/Anime shrine. Really bad. Like so many others. Though I did go to the effort of creating a 3D model avatar for use on the site. the site no longer exists, but that's no bad thing really. -Sunyavadin
1998-
The beginning of my Angelfire site. Focusing on my hobbies and the like. That sort of thing. I met some interesting individuals in this time. -Sunyavadin
The early days of my Freeserve hosted Creatures site, The Albia of Dr Washu. -Washu
1999-2000-
With the collapse of the Creatures Syndicate site, The Albia of Dr Washu got pushed to the side to make room for an attempt at continuing the community from CS. Of course, it didn't end up quite working out, and eventually with the death of the site, I moved into the real world for a year or two. Eventually to emerge online again as a modder of many games. -Washu
Upon getting a job, my online activity was limited to the odd bit of modem gaming, without regular college internet access my sites were lost to time (Though there's a mildly interesting story of everything I went through getting them to remove my old Angelfire site after having long forgotten the passwords et al.) -Sunyavadin
Roll on...
2002-
Washu.co.uk purchased. Dream since the old Geocities page achieved. (The page having rapidly become a Washu shrine.) However, increasingly cynical views of the stupid number of such pages online led to me refusing to create just another such site clogging the web with otaku crap available on a million other sites. I needed a plan. -Sunyavadin
Enter a plan. I needed somewhere to stick my mods for various games. Having laboured on them under the Washu motif for years, this was the two birds with one stone scenario. -Washu
2003-
The disparate mess of Washu.co.uk thoroughly revamped, tidied up and placed under the 'Washu Labs' banner. Revision 4.0 completed, after which not much changed until... -Washu
2004-
Washu.co.uk domain registration extended. Began working on 'Beta Complex' my first fansite since the Geocities days, this time musically based. -Sunyavadin
Washu Labs 5.0 revision. Washu.co.uk timeline added, stuff reorganised.-Washu
